A soft skill is a skill that is innate and usually doesn't require training/education. Soft skills make you who you as a person, but those skills are usually not sufficient enough to secure a job.

Example: It's good to know that you are a nice person but that is not enough to get a job as a computer programmer. You need to know computer languages, and that is a HARD skill.
