The Scotch Shepherds did not actually come to Alaska, rather, the breed was mentioned as a mix of a St. Bernard and Scotch Shepherd named Buck, in Jack London's 1903 novel The Call of the Wild. In the story, Buck is taken from California to Alaska and the Yukon during this period.
