A donor tells you their email address has changed, what do you do?
An Internal Change Form Case in Salesforce to update their email address, notify the donor the change has been completed
What does LOA stand for and what is its function?
Letter of Authorization: Our request to the financial advisor to liquidate cash from the investment account and send us funds
How do I make a change to a grant recommendation once it has been submitted?
By either responding to the 'Submission Confirmation' email with your request, or calling into Donor Support
Will I get anything that confirms that I have made a contribution to my DAF? If so how will I receive it?
Yes, a gift letter will be generated and mailed to the donor and to the advisor. The contribution will also be reflected in Donor Central
It's 4:50 pm and a donor is calling. You have somewhere to be at 5:30 pm and it's a 25 minute drive. Do you take the call?
Yes! The donors come first! You could set a proper expectation of the time you have if a deeper problem arises and offer a callback the next day if necessary.
An elderly donor does not have a computer to access Donor Central and would like to make some grant recommendations, what are her other options?
Ask her financial advisor to make her grant recommendations for her through Donor Central, or send her a Manual Grant Recommendation form.
My wife and I share this fund, and we want to make a change to our Disposition Plan. Can I sign the change form own my own?
Nope! All current donors would need to sign off on any change forms for the DAF.
Will I be notified when my grant has been paid?
Donors will receive a confirmation email when the grant has been approved and is ready to be processed.
Earlier this year I gifted $50,000.00 to my DAF, but now I need that money for home repairs. Can you help me get those funds back to my account?
Nope! Gifts made to AEF are irrevocable.
What is a Liquidity Account and what happens when it gets overdrawn?
This is the account we use to receive Liquid Funds to fulfill our donors' grant requests and our annual liquidity requests.
When it is overdrawn, grants will go on hold!
How should we respond if a donor asks us to recommend a charity for them to support with a grant?
We can not recommend a charity to a donor, but we can assist by navigating them to Guidestar or Charity Navigator to find charities whose mission aligns with their own!
I don't know who I want to have manage my DAF, can you recommend a good Financial Advisor in my area?
No, we can not recommend certain financial advisors but we can encourage them to research trusted advisors in their area
Can I make a grant to a foreign charity with my AEF DAF?
You can, using our third-party friends: Charities Aid Foundation
These grants are subject to additional fees and longer payment times
How long does it take to complete a Gift Letter?
10-15 business days
When and where are our administrative fees charged?
Administrative fees are charged quarterly from the Liquidity Account
An aggravated donor calls asking why they can't make a grant recommendation. You see their account is on a 'transfer hold' awaiting their new FA to submit paperwork. What do you do next?
1. Apologize for the delay on their pending grant
2. Reach out to our Transfer team to check on the status and find a good ETA to communicate to the donor
3. Log your conversation in Salesforce :)
A financial advisor calls in and shares that he is in Donor Central, and sees the fund he manages, but there is no option to Recommend a Grant
Why could this be, and what is the solution?
Either the fund has entered its closing grant OR the FA does not have granting privileges on this fund.
All current donors would need to sign and date the "Authorize Granting Privileges" change form.
I'd like to attend an event being hosted by a charity I support, if I donate $5,000.00 I get my own table at the event. Is this permissible?
NOPE! Grants can not be used to purchase items or directly benefit the donor.
Can I contribute Real Estate to my DAF? If so, what category would this fall under?
Yes! This would be an 'alternative asset'
