Try to keep the person on the phone and ask questions. Do not hang up your end of the receiver.
Smoke or fire is seen in the building or alarm is sounding
Code Red
If the alarm is sounding, panels (that look like thermostats) are located behind the fireplaces (upstairs and downstairs) that tell the location of a fire.
Floor staff cannot locate Ms. Smith from Room 400.
Code Pink
CNAs check all resident rooms
Nurses check all "extra" storage/closets etc
Other staff search areas assigned per policy
A person in the facility is being held against their will.
Code white
If you are ever in a hostage situation, try to get along or stay neutral to avoid confrontations while awaiting help.
A chemical spill has occurred in the community spreading toxins in the air
Code Orange
Await instructions on the next steps to complete
Tornado!!!! or other environmental disasters
Code Green
In case of a tornado - close all blinds and place privacy curtains to block windows
A person waving a gun has entered the building.
Code Grey
1- Run (remove yourself from the situation)
2 - Hide
3 - Fight (fight to win)
A resident is found with no pulse and no respirations. Resident has elected to have a Full-code status.
Code Blue
A code blue can also be called in the event of a medical emergency in which the nurse needs assistance (active seizures, strokes) similar to the rapid response team at a hospital
