What is less?

300

Who is the school Counselor?

Who is Mrs. Richardson?

400

What is another name for the first law of motion? Why is it given that name?

What is the law of inertia because inertia is the tendency of an object to resist any change in its motion until an unbalanced force acts on it?

Explain how each of Newton’s laws affect a game of Tug of War.

1. The rope will remain at rest until a force is being exerted upon it (pulling in the tug of war game).

2. If the body is pulled during the game, it will match the acceleration of the force that is moving the body.

3. The forces used in tug of war are opposite each other and one side has to pull with a greater magnitude to win (rather than the same magnitude).

Why should we wear seatbelts – use one of Newton’s Laws in your answer?

1st Law: Law of inertia that states that an object at rest remains at rest, and an object that is moving will continue to move straight and with constant velocity, if and only if here is no net force acting on that object.

2nd Law:  This law says that the net force applied to a body produces a proportional acceleration.  It also means that if a body is accelerating, then a net force is being applied to it.

3rd Law:  states that all forces between two objects exist in equal magnitude and opposite direction.

Explain why your weight is less on the moon than on earth.

Explain why your mass is the same on earth and on the moon.

The gravitational attraction on the Moon is much less than it is on Earth, therefore a person weighs less on the Moon.

Your mass stays the same but your weight changes.  If you measure your mass on Earth and then on the Moon, it will no change.  Your mass remains the same.
