What is logos?
A distinct segment of the comic, containing a combination of image and text in endless variety. Typically in a box shape.
What is a panel?
The deliberate pose used in a photograph or illustration to present/suggest an idea. Typically, this is done in conjunction with the verbal features.
What is body language?
Is an overstatement that exaggerates a particular condition for emphasis
What is hyperbole?
an idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning.
What is connotation?
The use of language that includes the audience, such as with a direct address to the audience. This is typically done with second person perspective ("you") or inclusive personal pronouns like "us" or "we".

What is a speech bubble (or speech balloon)?
The center of interest on a page or set of facing pages, created by using color, contrast and proportion.
What is focal point?
The component of the image showing the most salient/important subject.
What is dominant image?
Placement of two things closely together to emphasize comparisons or contrasts
What is juxtaposition?
A persuasion technique which suggests you should do something because everyone else is doing it.
What is bandwagon effect
The depth of colour, contrast, light and dark tones used in images
What is graphic weight
The path a viewer has when viewing an image or another visual text, such as from a large piece of font and then a small body of text.
What is visual path?
A title or brief explanation accompanying an illustration, cartoon, or poster.
What is caption?
the repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses
What is anaphora?
Using situations or lifestyles that viewers would aspire to have to make viewers want to buy into that lifestyle.
What is aspirational appeal?
A panel that takes up the space of several panels in the comic in order to introduce or highlight an action or character
What is a splash panel?
The term given to a complete work of art or visual text and, more specifically, to the way in which all its elements work together to produce an overall effect.
What is composition?
A smaller, secondary headline that usually elaborates on the main headline above it.
What is sub-heading (or sub-headline)?
A reference to another work of literature, person, or event
Allusion
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or weaknesses, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
What is satire?
An underlying and often distinct theme in a piece of writing, conversation or visual text.
Subtext
When a person or subject in the visual text appears to be looking directly at the audience.
