Elements of Drama
The people or animals that are part of the story. In drama, these are listed at the beginning of the play.
Who are the characters?
A group of lines that are together.
What is a stanza?
When and where the story takes place.
What is setting?
Information which tells the actors what to do.
What are stage directions?
Words or phrases that are repeated.
What is repetition?
The events that happen in the story.
What is plot?
This section provides information about what has already happened before the play begins.
What is description?
Words that have the same ending sounds.
What the characters say. In prose, this is marked by quotation marks.
What is dialogue?
The lines of text which characters speak. In drama, this is most of the play.
What is dialogue?
The feeling the author is trying to convey.
What is mood?
A character in the story is telling it.
What is 1st person point of view?
The message or lesson that the author is trying to convey.
What is theme?
The number of syllables in a line and how they are accented. This creates the rhythm or beat of the poem.
What is meter?
An outside narrator is telling the story.
