This disorder is characterized by persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, causing significant impairment in daily life. To receive a diagnosis, the symptoms must last for at least two weeks.

This is motivated by a lack of interest in eating or food, sensory sensitivity, and/or a fear of aversive consequences (e.g., of choking or vomiting) rather than a fear of gaining weight or distress regarding body shape/size.

This anxiety disorder causes someone to fear being in situations where escape may be difficult or embarrassing, or help might not be available in the event of panic symptoms. The fear is out of proportion to the actual situation and lasts generally six months or more and causes problems in functioning.
