Does Military TA cover State Sales Tax?

Military tuition assistance does not cover State Sales Tax. Students that reside in Hawaii or Albuquerque will have to pay that portion out of pocket. (The sales tax on the military adjustment of $444 for undergrad will be adjusted off in the amount of $20.92.) The student will be responsible for the sales tax on the $750.00. KB 70542

When a VA document is received, how should staff submit them?

Documents received by staff should be uploaded to Admissions via the Kofax - Internal Document Upload process. The University IVA department will review the document submitted and determine if the student’s file is Complete/Not Complete within 7 calendar days of the document being loaded into eXp. KB 61308.

When using Chapter 33 benefits, are W grades covered?

Courses where a 'W' grade has been assigned will be reported to the Regional VA office as a withdrawal. This may result in the loss of benefits received for the dropped course, unless the VA determines the course was dropped due to mitigating circumstances.

Navy, Marine, and Coast Guard students need to provide a copy of the approved TA voucher.  

The approved TA voucher must match the Course ID, start date, and end date of the course the student is scheduled for.

What programs are eligible for MYCAA funding?

  • Stand-alone associate degrees (excludes general studies, liberal arts, and interdisciplinary studies that do not have a concentration)
  • Under the new law, military spouses can now use MyCAA with the cost of national tests for course credits required for a degree approved under the program. This includes the College Level Examination Program tests. It also ensures that military spouses receive financial assistance to pursue or maintain (including continuing education courses) a license, certification or associate degree in any career field or occupation.

Will VA certifications be issued during a student’s Risk-Free Period?

No. If you are in the University’s risk-free period, the class will not be certified during the risk-free period (first three weeks of the course). An enrollment certification will be submitted to the VA after positive attendance is recorded in a subsequent week.

Who qualifies as a Servicemember Dependent?

What is the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM scholarship and are University of Phoenix students using VA benefits eligible for the scholarship?

Effective August 1, 2019 Department of Veterans Affairs is launching the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship program for students in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math) who have exhausted their entitlement for Chapter 33 Post 9/11 benefits or will exhaust their benefits within 180 days of their scholarship application.
