The Red Guard enforced China's new culture by destroying books, paintings, statues, and monuments that support old culture. They waged war on people that opposed the emperor.

Between 1971 and 1976 china gotten used to the cultural revolution, it felt normal. president Nixon visited china in February 1972 to reestablish ties, "a week that changed the world".

CAUSE: young collage students started protests so they could have pollical freedom Chinese citizens joined in and the protests got big.

EFFECT: military action.

During the cultural revolution between 500,000 and two million lives were lost, while not many people talk about this the family's of those lost still are in pain. Also, with all the government instability this slowed their economy.
