I have 100 grams of a radioactive isotope. It has a half life of 4 days. How much material will remain in 4 days?

I went through 1 half life, meaning I cut my parent material in half a single time.

100/2= 50 grams

If 100 grams of Carbon 14 decays until only 25 grams remains after 11,460 years in total, then what is the half-life of carbon 14?

How many times do cut my parent material in half to turn 100 into 25?

100/2=50 50/2=25 so I went through 2 half-lives in 11,460 years

I want to find what one equals, so 11,460/2= 5,730 years is one half life

Gold-198 has a half-life of 2.7 days. How much of a 96 g sample of gold will be left after 8.1 days?

I know 1 half life is 2.7 days and that 8.1 total days have gone by. so 81/27=3 half lives. So i need to cut my parent material (what I'm starting with) in half 3 separate times. 96/2=48 48/2=24 24/2=12

12 grams will be left

B. A fuel source reacts with carbon dioxide to release heat, light, and sound.

C. A fuel source reacts with oxygen to create nuclear energy.

D. A fuel source reacts with carbon dioxide to create nuclear energy.

A. A fuel source reacts with oxygen to release heat, light, and sound.

If the Half-life of Iodine-131 is 8.1 days, approximately how long will it take a 50 gram sample to decay to 6.25 grams?

How many half lives do I go through in order to turn 50 into 6.25?

50/2=25     25/2=12.5      12.5/2= 6.25 So I cut my parent material in half 3 times. If I want to find the total time and 1 half life is 8.1 days, I do 8.1X3 half lives and get 24.3 days.
