What is weathering?
Is the process of breaking apart rocks and other earth materials into smaller pieces.

What is soil made of?
Soil is made up of tiny pieces of rock, dead leaves, air, water, animal waste and parts of dead animals.

Rocks can change by these three processes:
The roots of plants can weaken and break apart the rock.
Sunlight heats and breaks apart the rock.
Water can freeze inside the rock and split it apart.
