Fill in the blank: As water velocity increases, Turbidity _______

Increases

100

If the salinity of the water increases, what happens to the dissolved oxygen in the water?

The dissolved oxygen in the water decreases

What is an Estuary?

The larger body of water that the river empties into.

150

What happens to the sedimentation of the water as the turbidity is low?

The sedimentation of the water is high

Fill in the blank: If the erosion of the water increases, that means that the velocity of the water _____

Also increases

The measurement of measurement of suspended solids in the water is called?

Turbidity

Fill in the blank: As the temperature of the water _______, the dissolved oxygen in the water increases.

Decreases.

200

If the temperature of the water is high, what happens to the density?

The density decreases.

200

What is a land area that supplies water to a river system?

Watershed

250

What happens to the turbidity of the water when the temperature of the water is low?

There is no direct correlation between the turbidity of the water to the temperature of the water. There could be high turbidity in both cold and warm water.

Fill in the blank: When the salinity of the water is high, the density of the water is ____

also high

Which word is used to describe a small stream or river that flows into a main river? Watershed or Tributary?

Tributary.

What is the relationship connection between transmittance percentage to turbidity and photosynthesis to turbidity?

They share the same relationships. I.E. They both have a negative relationship with turbidity. (Since the more light coming through into the water the more photosynthesis the plant produces

Negative

What is eutrophication?

It is when too many nutrients are in a small water system, which causes the algae to grow. The algae grows on top of the water, and thus blocks the photosynthesis of plants at the bottom of the water system. The death of those plants cause the oxygen in the water to be used up. The lack of oxygen and food causes living beings in the water to die out. When all the living beings die out, the entire system dies.
