What do we need to perform this?
Gather the equipment needed to perform the procedure.
How can I make everyone aware of this situation?
Sound the alarms.
When first touching the hand, what should be observed for?
Temperature, color,swelling,cuts,or splits.
How should the resident be greeted?
by their preferred name
Privacy?
Close the drapes, doors and cover the patient while performing.
How should I contain this fire?
Shut the doors and windows.
What position should the resident be sitting in when assessed?
Sitting up-Natural Position
Who are you?
Greet them politely and introduce yourself.
What Standard precautions are needed?
Grab the PPE (mask, gloves, gown, etc.)
If the fire is rapid, should the fire extinguisher be used?
No, if the heat is intolerable to be within 10-15 feet of, it is too much.
What are the benefits of soaking the residents nails before care?
Softens nails&skin,prevents injury,loosens debris,improves circulation.
