Double Jeopardy
Would a pond full of hundreds of channel catfish be an area with high or low biodiversity?
Low Biodiversity
Would adding an invasive species to an ecosystem increase or decrease biodiversity?
Decrease Biodiversity
What is a biological factor? Give an example...
A living or biotic factor.
Examples: Food, Shelter, Predators, Prey, disease, etc...
What is an ecosystem?
All the living and non-living things in an area.
What is the name of the alternate dimension in Netflix's Stranger Things?
The Upside Down
Where is the most diverse place in the world? The area with most biodiversity...
The Tropical Rainforest
The ability for an ecosystem to survive and thrive due to biodiversity.
What is a physical factor? Give an example...
An abiotic or non-living factor.
Examples: Water, Temperature, Soil, Light, etc...
Double Jeopardy
What does carrying capacity mean?
The max number of organisms an area can support.
What day is Star Wars Day?

The biggest threat to biodiversity...
Humans
Explain how a biological factor can affect a population of organisms in an ecosystem.
Example:
A Deer population decreases when their is less food and shelter. They could also decrease by an increased amount of predators.
Identify 3 biological and 3 physical factors that can affect a population of organisms in an ecosystem.
Biological- Food, Shelter, Predators, Parasites, Sickness, etc...
Physical- Sunlight, Temp, Water, Space, etc...

Which Avenger other than Captain America was able to pick up Thor's Mjolnir in the Marvel movies?
Vision
Describe Genetic Biodiversity and why it is important.
Not all organisms of a certain species are the same. They have different traits or characteristics. Example: Breeds of Dogs, Variations of apples, Human Characteristics/traits.
It is important because a disease could wipe out an entire population if they are genetically the same. It also increases competition, and natural selection takes place "only the strongest survive and pass on their genetic characteristics".
Double Jeopardy
How do humans harm biodiversity? Give at least 3 ways...
Deforestation
Pollution
Over hunting/Over fishing
Climate Change
Urbanization
Invasive Species
Explain how a physical factor can affect a population of organisms in an ecosystem.
If there is less sunlight, water, or nutrient rich soil, then a plant population can decrease. Also, a drought or less water could decrease the population of animals as well.
Give an example of three types of ecosystems.
Forest
Desert
Ocean
Tundra
etc...
Who is the half-blood prince in Harry Potter?
Severus Snape
Describe Species Biodiversity and why it is important.
Species diversity is where an ecosystem has a variety of many different organisms. The more different types of organisms "species" the more biodiversity.
This is important because it allows an ecosystem to thrive or survive even if a member of the ecosystem leaves or dies.
Give three reasons why biodiversity is important to humans.
Medicines
Variety of Food
Recreation
Wood Products
Etc...
Double Jeopardy
What is an invasive species and how can they have a negative impact on an ecosystem? Give an example.
An invasive species is an organism that is introduced to an area where it is not native to.
They can overpopulate and eat the resources of other native animals. They can prey upon native species and decimate their population. They can even kill or harm natural predators to the area.
Example: Cane Toads, Zebra Mussels, Hogs, Etc...
