The Giver
The concept of seeing things started off with one particular shade in both The Giver and Pleasantville.

The written knowledge seen in Fahrenheit and Pleasantville gives the citizens more ideas of what life is outside of their closed off society's.

When Wybie teased bud and his girlfriend and called her colored this correlates to a problem happening in the 1950s.
What is segregation?
When the society's control of the weather falters it gives characters get a glimpse of things other than clear skies.
What is rain?
In the Givers the society tunes out this idea just like how Pleasantville didn't want to listen to it if it wants "pleasant".
What is music?
In both Pleasantville and Fahrenheit have many feelings against others from gaining a sense of consciousness through alone time, using different ways to stop their knowledge from expanding.
What is thinking?
When buds father arrived home saying, "Honey I'm home" a flash of something can be seen indicating a great change that is arising in foreshadow.
What is lightning?
The hobby that give the Bill Johnson a glimpse into what he desires to do and also what the society seems to want to throw away.
What is art?
