After spending time in a ______ my experience was different than I expected. The class design was self guided with the instruction addressing questions as they arouse. There was both traditional age students, and non-traditional. The demand and need was a determinate in how long the learners would attend. In most cases business professionals would take a class, and students for longer periods up to ten weeks. I was most amazed by the lack of qualifications needed to become an instructor. The one exception to this rule was if the vendor (Microsoft, Red Hat, Cisco) required the instructor to have certification. The goals were set by the learner, and either the learner understood the concepts and could apply them or the learner needed a different format for retention. New Horizons does not issue grades, but measure the learners ability to apply the new information. Each instructor can use any format, but the one I attended was question and answer which provided for dialog. Many of the classes are lecture based with breaks and plenty of time for questions. Metrics that Matter is the company that evaluates the classes, and their evaluation of New Horizons is what attracts future customers.

This assignment was extremely educational. I realized that ___ Horizons which is very successful in the classroom is not so in business acumen based on their company's performance on Wall Street. In addition, the facilitators use the style that best fits the classes needs, and this gives their instructors autonomy to achieve teaching goals. I learned that there are numerous opportunities to implement computer based learning, and that students learn at different paces and styles. I would have suspected lecture as the most effective model, but all are useful. I also found that the unemployed and military use their services in larger amounts of time, and that computer software is not properly taught in the corporate environment. I found this assignment extremely useful in learning about a company's shortcomings it computer training. This new found knowledge will help me attaining my goal of creating a division within my company for corporate software training.
