What is a Long-Cycle Assessment?
A short meeting or conference between the parents and teachers of students to discuss a child's progress at school and find solutions to academic or behavioral problems
What is a Parent-Teacher Conference?
Reviewing one's own work and examining how they learn.
What is Self-Reflection?
The transmission of evaluative information about a student's action, event, or process. This can be classified as negative, positive, specific, or a letter grade.
What is feedback
An example of this would be a State Test or an EOC Exam.
What is an X-Cycle Assessment?
A 1:1 interview between a student and a teacher to go over learning progress and to set goals.
What is a Student-Teacher conference?
A guide that assesses and articulates specific components and expectations for a task.
What is a rubric?
“I would love to see you do more of X as it relates to Y”
What is Specific Feedback?
Takes place between lessons and often times presented at the end of the unit.
What is a Mid-Cycle Assessment?

An online tool that can be used to generate a guide that articulates task expectations.
What is RubiStar?
A percentage-based system.
What is a 100 point grading scale?
Takes place within and between lessons on a day-to-day, minute-to- minute basis. This is generally not a test.
What is Short-Cycle Assessment?
An interconnected relationship between students, parents, and teachers that provides for a successful school environment.
What is a triad?
Includes opportunities for guided practice, requires scaffolding, and revolves around the three questions: Where am I going?, Where am I know?, What strategies will help me get to where I need to go?
What is Student Goal Setting?
This tool describes the performance expected from the student on a learning target. Grading with this provides clear communication to students and parents about the student's strengths and weaknesses on that learning target (4-3-2-1-0)
What is a Proficiency Scale
The standards by which to judge whether an objective has been successful.
A brief written record or note of a snapshot in time, documenting what a child says or does during classroom activities and routines.
What is an Anecdote/Observation?
A learning activity or assessment that asks students to perform to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and proficiency. This often yields a performance as evidence for learning.
What is a Performance Task
Students engage in a task to demonstrate if their learning is aligned to the course material and the intent of the Learning Target(s) and is progressing toward the standard(s)
