Four areas of articulation- pronouncing sound, fluency- flow, voice-pitch, language and encompassing ideas.
What is autism?
Deficits in social interaction communication and repetitive patterns of behavior. Characterized by lack of attention, eye contact and self stimulating behaviors.
What is a physical health impairment?
conditions and diseases such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, diabetes etc.

What are some ways to determine reading levels?

Oral reading sample, cloze procedure, informal reading inventories
What are some classroom modifications for students with communication disorders?
modeling grammar, classroom activities, modification of language aspects.
How do we modify the classroom for students with autism?
Organize schedules, follow routines, have technology, and sensory tools.
How do we adapt the environment for students with physical disabilities?
evaluate accessibility, seating arrangements, storage space, special equipment and peer mentors.

What are some organizers and adaptations for sped students?
tutors, audio recordings, fluency, SQ3R
What is augmentive communication?
Systems that increase the ability to communicate such as a communication board and v max or dyna vox.
What is the PECS system?
The picture exchange communication system where students can see pictorially a schedule or activity.
Who are students with visual or hearing impairments?
Students with a loss in hearing or vision and can be mild, moderate or severe.
What is Tier 2?
Secondary interventions and support
What are some ways to modify instruction in math?
manipulatives, real life word problems, analysis of stories, class store.
What is a behavioral disorder?
It can range from aggression to withdrawal and there is no particular behavior but it impedes learning in the classroom.
What is an intellectual disability?
Students who have special needs in academics , behavioral, physical and social performance.
What are some classroom modifications for visual hearing impairments?
Arrange the learning and physical environment and verbalize graphics, interpreter.
What is Tier 3?
Tertiary support and 5% of students require this level of support.
What are some modifications for reading?
reduce reading requirement, written materials for lower reading materials, present through a different medium.
What is ADHD and what is it characterized by?
AsStudents difficulty in maintaining attention and who is hyperactive or distractible and impulsive.
What are some classroom adaptations for students with intellectual disabilities?
transition education, unit approach, differential grading.
What are some classroom amplification devices?
hearing aids- sound is picked up and amplified, FM technology- instrument to address noise and cochlear implants - surgically implanted in the organs.
