What is a safety data sheet (SDS) ?

What is Lockout Tagout (LOTO) ?
The container that SuperNovas can find in kitchens and offices for waste such as pizza boxes and used tissues.
What is a Trash Can ?
Clothing and devices to protect SuperNovas when other controls aren’t feasible.
What is Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) ?
The designated location where individuals gather during an emergency.
What is an emergency rally point ?
The enclosed, ventilated laboratory workspace designed for safely handling materials contaminated with (or potentially contaminated with) pathogens, providing personnel protection, product safety, and environmental control.
What is a biological safety cabinet (BSC)?
The fundamental safety guideline when using ladders. You should have either both hands and one foot or one hand and both feet in contact with the ladder.
What is the Three Points of Contact rule ? (Ladder Safety)
The waste that is collected, processed, and reused rather than being discarded as trash.
What is Recycled Waste ?
Changing work practices or providing information (e.g., training, procedures).

The handheld device used for active fire protection. Follow the PASS acronym to use it.
What is a fire extinguisher ?
PASS: Pull the pin to unlock the extinguisher. Aim the nozzle or hose at the base of the fire. Squeeze the handle to release the extinguishing agent. Sweep from side to side, covering the fire with the agent.

What is a corrosive substance?
The controls to safeguard personnel from falling or, in case of a fall, to stop them without causing severe injury.
What is Fall Protection ?
Waste that either have the potential to cause serious illness or mortality or pose a threat to human health and the environment if not managed properly. These materials require special handling and disposal procedures to prevent harm.
What is Hazardous Waste ?
The effective control preventing hazards from reaching SuperNovas, such as noise enclosures, ventilation etc.
What is Engineering Control ?
The EHS management system that SuperNovas use to report an incident, such as an injury, property damage, accident, near miss, or when a new hazard has been identified.
What is Velocity EHS ?
The requirement for laboratories working with biological agents associated with human diseases. These agents pose a moderate health hazard if accidentally inhaled, swallowed, or exposed to the skin.
What is biosafety level 2 (BSL-2)?
The space large enough for a SuperNova to enter and perform assigned work but not designed for continuous occupancy. Some may possess potential hazards such as hazardous atmospheres or engulfment risk.
What is a Confined Space ?
The specialized container designed for the safe disposal of used needles and syringes.
What is a sharps container?
The control of replacing a hazardous material or process with another one that is less hazardous.
What is Substitution?
The manually activated component of a fire alarm system, typically mounted on a wall.
What is a Pull Station ?
The location where hazardous waste containers are temporarily stored, until the licensed waste handlers tranposrt them to a transfer storage disposal facility for proper disposal.
What is a Central Accumulation Area (CAA)?
The “Right-to-Know Law” is a set of rules established by OSHA with a purpose is to keep employees informed about chemical hazards in the workplace.
What is OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard (HCS)?
The specific type of batteries that are collected onsite in the battery recycle tubes found by most copiers onsite.
What is a dry cell (alkaline) battery ?
The most effective control of ensuring the hazard no longer exists, such as stopping the use of a hazardous material.
What is Elimination?
