What is individual versus nature?
Comparing two things, using like or as
What is a simile?
Steps are described in the order they occur.
What is sequence/process?
Tells the explanation or description of a concept by using synonyms or signal words.
What is concept/definition?
Plot needs this to move the story along
What is conflict?
A young man must decide if he will follow his friends and earn a business degree, or if he will follow his heart and become an artist.
What is individual versus society
The thermostat was turned all the way up ... but it still felt like Jack Frost had moved in with us.
What is allusion?
Determines how two or more things are alike or different.
What is comparison/contrast?
The kid was a young Albert Einstein.
What is metaphor?
This part of the plot has increasing tension
What is the rising action?
You see your friend take $10 from another friend's locker. You struggle over how to respond because you don't want others to be mad at you.
What is individual versus self?
Using several words with the same beginning sound in a sentence.
What is alliteration?
Explains why something happened or explains the results of something.
What is cause and effect?
Reading on the beach can make you well red.

Individual versus technology
Writing that appeals to a reader's senses (sight, hearing, taste, touch, smell).
What is imagery?
Items are named or listed as the details, and the order of the details is not important.

Name the elements of plot
Exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution
