Five Finger Retell (Characters, Events, Problem, Solution, Setting).

"Writing Summaries! Make it Shorter! Just the facts, like a reporter!"

Use the most important words to find "What it's mostly about!"
What is a plot and setting?
The parts of a story, and where the story takes place.

Context Clues, skip it and come back.

Write a gist/main idea for each paragraph.

What can we use to determine if a text is fiction or non-fiction?
Text features! (Title, headings, captions)
What is a poem?
Words that tell a story or share a feeling about a topic
What must be included in a complete sentence, in terms of conventions/punctuation?
Capitals, periods, spaces, write neatly, etc.
What information do we need to make an inference?
What we already know, and what the text says.
What strategy do we use, or what image can we think about, when we have to identify what part of the story a paragraph is in a literary text?

What is the visualizing strategy for reading texts?
Make a "movie in your mind" then draw pictures on the side of the text!
What is mood of a story?
Mood: The feelings the author has towards the story.
Give a theme for the movie Cinderella.
Acceptance, Kindness, Compassion, etc.
