A resident tells the CNA "no" for everything. "No, I don't want to eat." "No, I don't want to shower." "No, I don't want to go to church." The CNA reports all of this to the nurse.
This is NOT abuse. The CNA documents and reports everything. The resident has the right to say no.

A resident had not been feeling well but decided to eat lunch anyway. Shortly before shift change the resident vomited on himself. The CNA answered the call light and told him someone would be in soon to clean him up. She left quickly to finish a few tasks to wrap up her shift.

Make sure the resident is safe- Have the team member clock out and go home. They are suspended pending an investigation. Then call the DON or Administrator.

A CNA enjoys talking to her favorite resident. They talk everyday. The CNA tells the resident about her eviction notice, her bills, and her stressed relationship. The resident offers her money. She takes it. He continues to offer her money, she continues to take it.

No it is not abuse. The resident knowingly offered and gave money to the CNA. Although it is wrong, and against our policy. (don't do it!)
