To say sorry when you do something wrong, whether on accident or purpose.

Step #1 is to practice good self-talk.

Give 1 example of good self-talk that you can use whenever you lose a game. 

Examples: 

• “Everyone can’t win every single time!” 

• “It’s okay that I didn’t win this time!” 

• “I can try winning next time!” 

• “There’s always next time!”

Give an example of someone being honest versus impolite.

• Honest - “I didn’t do my chores or homework” 

• Impolite - “Your hair/outfit/food looks funny”

When would it be necessary to apologize?

If you do any of the following: 

• Physical behaviors (e.g., hitting)

• Verbal behaviors (e.g., name-calling) 

• Accidental behaviors (e.g., bumping into someone) 

• Not following rules & directions

Step #2 is to think about what to say to the winner(s) & loser(s), while Step #3 is to pick your best option.

Give 2 examples of what you can say to the winner(s) & loser(s).

• “Congratulations!”
• “Good game!”
• “You played a good game!”

• “I will get better with practice!”
