The turning point of the story
What is the Climax of a story?
The central character in the work.
What is the protagonist?
The two main division used to break up parts of a play (think chapters in books).
What are scenes and acts?
A play, novel, or other narrative, depicting serious and important events, in which the main character comes to an unhappy end.
What is a tragedy?
The storyline of the play or narrative.
What is the plot?
What happens after the climax of the story.
What is the falling action?
The forces working against the protagonist, whether persons, things, conventions of society.
What is the Antagonist?
A long speech by one actor in a play or film spoken while other characters are on stage.
What is a monologue?
A genre of plays which use humor or satyr to make the audience laugh.
What are comedies?
The people involved in the story line of the play.
What are characters?
The clash of opposing forces; the protagonist's internal or external struggle
A character known only by one or two traits.
A flat character.
Lines, usually italicized, that give actors directions about the setting, blocking, or emotion.
A character that undergoes permanent change during the drama.
What is a dynamic character?
The time, place, and circumstances in which the plot occurs or develops.
What is setting?
Events that build up and complicate the conflict
What is rising action?
A complex or many sided character
What is a round character?
A dramatic device in which a character speaks to the audience.
What is an aside?
A main character that is dignified and courageous but who has a tragic flaw or weakness that leads to his/her downfall.
A conversation between two or more people as a feature of a book, play, or film.
What is dialogue?
Gives the introduction to the characters, setting and the conflict to come.
What is the exposition?
An character who does not change over the course of the drama.

When a character in a play or film speaks their thoughts aloud when by oneself.
What is a Soliloquy?
A genre of drama that depicts events that occurred in the past.
What are Histories?
An idea that recurs in or pervades a work of art or literature.
