What is a stanza?
A grouping of lines in a poem (like a paragraph)
What is rhythm?
A regular pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables
What is an end stop line?
Ending a line of poetry with a complete sentence
What is repetition?
The recurring use of a sound, word, phrase or line to create mood or emphasize an important idea
What is epic?
A long poem that tells of a hero's deeds.
What is an onomatopoeia?
The use of words to imitate the sound associated with objects or actions.
What is Ode?
A poem written in praise of a person, object or event
What is alliteration?
When 2 or more words in a row or close together start with the same consonant sound
What is assonance?
Repetition of vowel sounds
What is a Sonnet
A 14-line poem lyric poem (intended to express emotions) that may have one of several rhyme schemes
What is consonance?
Repetition of consonant sounds anywhere within words, not just the beginning
What is mood?
