Humanitarian crisis

A singular event or a series of events that are threatening in terms of health, safety or well-being of a community or large group of people. It may be an internal or external conflict and usually occurs throughout a large land area.

What is a cluster ? 

Clusters are groups of humanitarian organizations, both UN and non-UN, in each of the main sectors of humanitarian action, e.g. water, health and logistics. They are designated by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) and have clear responsibilities for coordination.

Services for HIV/AIDS prevention and care neglected, inadequate, or not integrated into health service delivery. Lack of age- and gender- appropriate prevention and treatment of STIs and HIV/AIDS, coordinated with other sectors.

Collaborate with Protection Cluster and define a ‘local framework’ for mental health and psychosocial support early in the emergency response. In the emergency phase, actions should be mainly social, with community workers raising social supports and delivering psychological first aid, while protecting the severe mentally ill.
