What is one inclusion and one exclusion criteria for SEARCH-mTBI? 

1) Patient is 11 to <18 years old who have mTBI. In brief, this is defined as a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score of 13 to 15 with:
• Head injury (e.g., direct blow or sudden deceleration/acceleration) plus any neurological sign and/or
symptom such as headache, nausea, history of loss of consciousness, confusion, dizziness, amnesia
(not limited to these symptoms/signs)
AND/OR
• Traumatic intracranial abnormalities on CT or MRI (such as intracranial hemorrhage, skull fracture, or
diffuse axonal injury)

2) Exclusion: Patient or parent does not speak English or Spanish

What should you do if you are running late?

Contact the Vice Chief and RC/JS on shift if you know you are going to be late ahead of time. The RA must make up the time lost in order for the shift to count towards their total for the quarter. If a RA is more than 30 minutes late to a shift, it will count as a missed shift and will result in a strike.

What is the SYSMEX VTE study? Also, since this study is similar to JARMAN what are some things we would look for during screening to prevent conflict of interest? 

1) To qualify for the designation of “highly sensitive” and the VTE exclusionary claim, a -D-dimer reagent/system must undergo a clinical validation study in non-high PTP patients suspected of having VTE

What is the KESETT study (original) and why are we informing the public about this study? 

1) KESETT is testing which treatment works best and is safest for people experiencing seizures. (The study is comparing levetiracetam by itself and the combination of levetiracetam with different amounts of of ketamine) 

2) In emergencies like seizures, patients may be unconscious and unable to give consent to join a study. Federal rules allow research to proceed without consent in such cases (this is called an Exception from Informed Consent (EFIC)). However, before using EFIC, researchers must inform the community about the study (Public Disclosure) and gather community feedback (Community Consultation).

What are three ways RA's can earn a strike?

a. A shift is canceled or swapped, without arranging equivalent coverage and having it approved by the Chief RA or EMRAP RC, in writing.
b. An RA is excessively or repeatedly tardy for a shift or leaves prior to the end of their shift.
c. An RA invokes illness or an emergency, to miss a shift, without immediately and directly communicating with the Chief RA or the Program Director.
d. An RA fails to submit a complete and appropriate shift log for a scheduled shift.
e. Leaving the ER for an extended period during a shift.
f. Egregious or repeated violations of the dress code or conduct standards while on shift in the hospital.
g. Excessive rescheduling of shifts (>2 times per quarter)
h. Inappropriate behavior or improper conduct
i. An RA fails to reasonably respond to any email that requires immediate action.

What are five of the exclusion criteria from SYSMEX VTE.  

• Prisoners or wards of the state
• Is unwilling or unable to provide informed consent
• Life expectancy of less than 3 months
• Is unwilling or unable to participate, including a 3-month follow-up interview, if necessary

• Inpatient status for >24 hours

than 24 hours prior to blood sample collection.
• Fibrinolytic therapy within the previous 7 days
• Trauma or major (orthopedic, general, radical oncological) surgery within previous 4 weeks
• Active cancer
• Previous acute lower extremity DVT or acute PE within 3 months of current screening
