Why do you think it is important to have a school counselor? 

School counselors support all students with anything that might come up, good or bad. Counselors listen and help students problem solve, build relationships, build confidence, and learn new life skills. Without a counselor, I might not have a space to talk through challenging things in private.

Why would a calming strategy be needed in this situation?... Your parents yelled at you for being unkind to your brother/sister, they stick their tongue out at you to rub it in. You feel SUPER angry. 

Because a calming strategy can help us calm down, and think before we act. We won't do something to get us in even more trouble.

We are all accountable for our actions. We must remain in control regardless of what we are feeling in the moment, and use an appropriate response and actions in different situations. It will help us be a more respectful and our best selves.

If you share with her that you are planning to hurt yourself, you are planning to hurt someone else, or someone is hurting you.
