What is vowel reduction? Name all vowels that undergo this process and what happens to them?

• О (o) in an unstressed syllable usually sounds similar to А (a). For example, молоко́ (molokó, "milk") is pronounced [мaлакó], with the first "o" sounding like [a]. Even though you hear [a], the spelling remains о because the stressed form (or related form) has o. Or не́бо (nébo, "sky") is pronounced roughly [njéба] (o is unstressed and reduced, sounding closer to [а] or a schwa).
• Е (e) in an unstressed syllable can sound closer to И (i) or a very weak [э] sound. For instance, без меня (bez menya, without me) [bizmin'a]: first and second e are unstressed and change to (i).
• А (a) also reduces to a lighter sound [ə] (schwa-like) when unstressed, which can be hard to distinguish from reduced "o": Тама́ра (Тamara) [Тама́рə]
• Я (ya) when unstressed often sounds like a soft [и] or [yə]; я in unstressed positions (except at word beginning) usually loses the clear "ya" sound: лягушка (lyagushka, frog) [l'igúškə]
