What is a UTA (undergraduate teaching assistant)?
The staff member with whom you must meet once a semester in order to plan which classes to take, discuss majors and minors, and review Gen Ed requirements, and lift academic holds. Usually, their offices are located in Thackeray Hall. Once you declare your major, the person you meet with will change.
Who is an Academic Advisor?
A 535 foot academic building containing rooms from almost every nationality at the University of Pittsburgh.
What is the Cathedral of Learning?
A historic landmark and botanical garden located in Schenley park and affiliated with Pitt. It houses many exotic plants and is often decorated ornately for holidays. Admission for students is free!

Who is Roc the Panther?
Mandatory classes you have to take outside of your major to complete a "well rounded curriculum." Include topics like global issues, ethics, writing and literature, history, and gender studies. Can be fulfilled with some fun sounding classes like "Vampires", "Witchcraft", and "Animal Ethics."
What are Gen Eds (General Education Requirements)?
This center, located in the WPU, specializes in helping students get started with planning for their future. It offers things like job coaching, searching for open positions, resume workshops, interview prep, networking, and career counseling.
What is the Career Center?
The building central to campus that houses lots of offices, but also has a food court on the bottom floor, study areas with open pianos, and hosts numerous upcoming academic/fun events and club meetings. These events are posted about in the lobby, where there is a help desk.
What is the William Pitt Union?

This academic status is assigned to you if your cumulative GPA falls below 3.0; a term GPA falls below 1.5; or a student fails to progress towards a degree.
What is Academic Probation?
This resource offers academic coaching, one on one peer tutoring, and drop in tutoring hours held on the first floor of Hillman Library. Designed to help students learn which study method is most effective for them!
What is the Study Lab?
A main, one way street running out bound towards downtown. Lined with buildings and monuments such as the Soldiers and Sailors memorial, Alumni Hall, the University Store, and Starbucks coffee.
What is Fifth Avenue?
A long and bustling street located in the South Side lined with bars, restaurants, and tattoo parlors; known for its night life.
What is E Carson Street?
Many couples hang these on the the Schenley and Panther Hollow Bridges, symbolizing everlasting love.
What are Locks?
The App used to make appointments with your advisor, as well as pre-professional advising appointments.
What is Navigate?
Located in Nordenberg Hall. Students can make appointments for primary care health screenings, as well as STD and sexual health testing, drug and alcohol counseling, and vaccinations. They also have on campus psychiatrists, OBGYNs, and a pharmacy.
What is The Health Center?
If you take an art class, it will most likely be in this building. It also has a cute, two-story, dark & vintage like library open to all students.
What is the Frick Fine Arts Building?
A historic neighborhood in the East End of Pittsburgh, it is lined with many old homes and boutiques, shops, galleries, and restaurants like the Yard and Noodlehead. You can also find the Jam on Walnut here.
