What is potential energy?

Building up of energy, released when kinetic energy exerts.

100

What are some nonrenewable resources?

Coal, Oil, Nuclear energy, Fossil fuels.

100

What is evaporation?

Gas to liquid.

100

What are igneous rocks?

Cooled down magma or lava, forming a type of rock.

100

How can rocks get weathered?

Chemicals or Mechanical energy.

200

What is kinetic energy?

The exertion of energy through movement.

200

What are some renewable resources?

Solar power, Wind energy, Water energy, Heat energy, Biomass.

200

What is condensation?

Liquid to gas.

200

What are sedimentary rocks?

Buildup of small rocks, compressed into one.

200

What is erosion?

The movement of sediments.

300

What is mechanical energy?

Either kinetic energy or potential energy.

300

What is a screw?

Anything taking a spiral form.

300

What are some forms of substances on earth?

Solid, liquid, and gas.

300

What are metamorphic rocks?

A rock already being heated, but heated to a new form.

300

What is gravity?

The slowest form of moving rocks, giant mountains of ice move slowly, pushing large amounts of sediment as it moves.

400
What are fossils?

Preserved bones or remains of ancient beings.

400

What is a machine?

A device that transmits or modifies force or motion

400

What is in an atom?

The nucleus , proton, neutron, and the electron.

400

How hard is Diamond on the MOH's scale

10 on the MOH's scale

400

What is mechanical weathering?

1. Root action - The roots of plants, or trees, push up out of the ground, or dig into the rock, breaking it.

2. Ice wedging - Water gets into the cracks of rocks. When the weather drops at night, the water turns into ice. Ice expands, The expansion of the ice turns a little crack into a big crack till it actually breaks the rock.

500

What is an axle?

The pin, bar or shaft by means of which a wheel or pair of wheel rotates

500

What is mass?

anything that has mass, similar to weight, and volume, taking up space

500

What is an atomic number?

It represents the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom

500
What is the weakest mineral on the MOH's scale?

Talc

500

What are some examples of chemical weathering?

1. Oxidation - when oxygen atoms in the air mix with the atoms of the metallic rock, in other words, rusting.

2.  Acid Rain - When pollution in the air mixes with water vapor in the air to form a mild acid which affects the rock
