What type of pancake is an A paper? 

A gourmet pancake with all the fixins': syrup, fruit, fluffy butter, good plating. Essentially, well-presented.

A well-presented paper with clear thesis (including audience and purpose), well structured, and fully developed. The thread has no snags.

You are looking at whether the choices the communicator has made are the most effective. Is the piece of communication working? 

We are not taking sides, allowing opinions and feelings to cloud our judgement, and we are not critiquing the person.
