The type of irony occurs when the audience knows something that the main characters do not
What is Dramatic Irony?
A character that stays the same.
What is a Static Character?
The beginning of the story where the author introduces the setting, characters, and other important information the readers need to know.
What is Exposition?
When a character struggles with an outside force.
What is External Conflict?
A person who is opposed to, struggles against, or competes with another.
What is an Antagonist?
This is the highest point of tension or action in the story. Also called the "Turning Point."
What is Climax?
A character with little to no complex emotions, motivations, or personality.
What is a Flat Character?
When a character struggles with their own opposing desires or beliefs.
What is Internal Conflict?
A series of events builds from the beginning of the story; where the author builds interest and tension in the story.
What is Rising Conflict?
When the actual meaning is the complete opposite from the literal meaning.
What is irony?
A leading character, hero, or heroine of a drama or other literary work.
What is a Protagonist?
A character with personality and complexities.
What is a Round Character?
The events of the story after the climax or turning point; the events lead to the end of the story and the resolution.
What is Falling Action?
A character that undergoes significant internal change throughout a story.
The type of irony where the situation's outcome is totally different from what people expect.
What is Situational Irony?
The type of irony where something is the opposite of what they mean.
What is Verbal Irony?
The final outcome or “untangling” of the events of the story.
What is Resolution?
