I don’t agree with the idea of world domination at all. It’s not something that people (even evil people) should write about publicly. In my opinion, Stewie has no right to decide what the fate of humanity should be because he’s not God. Besides, it’s just common sense that one person can never take over the world without being defeated by someone else.

In this article, “How to Take Over the World,” Stewie Griffin tries to persuade people that world domination is a beautiful thing. He uses elevated language such as “barrage” and “initiate” which seem to target an intelligent, but evil audience. The rhetorical strategies Stewie seems to rely upon the most are description and comparison. He uses a narrative style to paint an attractively dystopian picture of the world, and he uses his comparison to draw analogy between human beings and insects.

While Stewie’s word choice was effective in addressing villains of a higher intellectual caliber, I think that choosing smaller words would allow him to be more affective in reaching a larger, more evil audience. Likewise, his call for world domination could be given greater ethos if he referenced the methodologies of previous villains who have successfully achieved partial world domination. I find Stewie’s credibility to be somewhat lacking given that he is only a toddler, and thus does not have the life experience to take over the world. This article is probably most useful as a beginner’s guide to generally evil thoughts, but lacks the rigor of a fully-fledged guide to world domination.

Identify the Purpose, Audience, and Rhetorical Appeals in this paragraph: As a full professor at PUC, I oppose the new budget cuts being proposed, as they are inhumane. Not only will these cuts result in the loss of many well-respected and appreciated faculty, but they will deprive students of the necessary guidance and support that these people have provided over the years. The question is, can we really afford to do such a terrible thing to our beloved teachers and their students?

Identify the parts of the paragraph: (a)the Concession, (b)Supporting point and (c) Supporting evidence. Many people have made the logical assumption that that stricter gun laws will result in less gun related deaths. However, stricter gun laws actually have little to no effect on the amount of gun related deaths. According to a study published by the American Journal of Economics and Sociology entitled “The Effectiveness of Gun Control Laws: Multivariate Statistical Analysis,” results showed that “gun control laws have a very mild effect on gun related deaths while socioeconomic variables such as a state’s poverty level, unemployment, and alcohol consumption have significant impact on firearm related deaths” (Kwon 41). In other words, this quote reveals that gun related deaths have less to do with the amount of gun laws, and much more to do with the amount of poverty, alcoholism, and unemployment in a given area.
