False. Textual evidence is only really needed if two stories are intertwined/connected, otherwise it's not required.

What is a simile?
Find the mistake in the following sentence.
"I forgave Liane when she got mad at me for sneezing, I forgave Liane when she was a bit of a poopyhead, and when she ate my cookie." -No clue.. (Lilly)
The last example doesn't have the same parallel structure at the end, like the others have "I forgave Liane.." unlike the last example which starts with "when she.." so that is the mistake.
