How did the detective solve the mystery?
He stayed in Helen‘s room. when he heard the mysterious whistling he looked at the bell rope, saw the snake, and drove it back into the ventilator to Dr RoyLott’s room. The doctor had used milk to train the snake to go through the ventilator when he whistled. Then it crawled down the bell rope landed on the bed and killed Julia Stoner. This is how he was planning to kill Helen too.
What is the main conflict in the play?
The Bull and William want the same field. The Bull feels like he deserves it because he has been farming it. When his intimidation doesn’t work, Bull kills William and does not admit to it. None of the towns people tell on the Bull because they are afraid of him.
