WALKING, go right to class, can talk to other people, hands to yourself

By not touching them or destroying them. Ask to use first before taking anything.
How do books go back into the class library?
Spine facing out, not backwards or piled on top of one another.

Put in rollie rack in class slot.
When should you be to your next class?
Before or when the bell rings.
What is one rule you need to follow when working with another person?
keep your hands to yourself, focus, complete your own work, help one another
Can you take a book from the classroom home?
Yes, if you ask Mr. Payne and he gives you permission.
How do you know what you should be working on in class during independent work time or partner work?
Directions are always on the Smartboard and projected
When/how do you go to the bathroom?
Not during first 10 minutes of class. Not during a whole group lesson. Send Mr. Payne a smartpass and use restroom signal
Where should any electronics (cellphones/airpods)be kept during the school day?
Off and in your backpack.
What makes the best and most productive learning environment while you are in independent or partner work?
Focused, on task, quietly talking
Do I really have to read during silent reading? Can't I do missing work or work for another class?
Yes, you must read during silent reading. Certain situations may arise where Mr. Payne will allow you to do other work, but not without permission.
What are 3 ways you can encourage a "safe" and "productive" learning environment in Mr. Payne's room?
Listen to others. Keep voice to the level it should be based on class activity. Be helpful. Be respectful. Be responsible. Come prepared. Help others.
What do I do if I do not have a pencil AND how/when do I sharpen my pencil if I do have one?
Get a pencil from the pencil box. Return pencil to the box at the end of class. Not during whole group lesson- go to front of the classroom on top of the bookshelf to sharpen.

To become better readers, build up our reading stamina, build our vocabulary, and prepare for the SOL.

Put away your things, check your desk/underneath your desk, put away notebook, put away class assignment that you are working on, clean up trash, sit and wait until bell or Mr. Payne dismisses you

walk quietly down to the cafeteria, wait to get food until called, clean up after yourself, help sweep floor, not scream/shout, hands to yourself, etc.
Why is it important to have a cooperative, productive, respectful work environment in the classroom?
To learn best, so everyone feels safe, so everyone can focus, etc.
Is reading fun?
Oh course it is. Reading books offers a range of benefits including: improved cognitive function like memory and critical thinking, stress reduction, vocabulary expansion, enhanced knowledge acquisition, increased empathy, better concentration, improved sleep quality, and the ability to explore diverse perspectives and ideas through different genres and authors
