An in-text citation is a quote taken directly from another source (" "). A paraphrase is a re-wording of an idea taken from another source. A paraphrase will not have quotation marks around it, but does require an in-text citation in parenthesis at the end of the paraphrase.

When you adapt a speech, an element is added or changed about the speech prior to your editing which will guide your revision.

Revising a speech is the editing you will complete to a piece of writing which is considered complete - no large, working elements will be added or changed at this point.

The last step in revising is to edit for mistakes in mechanics, such as subject-verb agreement. Give an example of an incorrect use of subject-verb agreement and explain how you could correct it.

The subject, 'stars', and the verb, 'is', do not "match", or agree. The corrected sentence: The stars are shining brightly tonight.
