What is the "Harlem Renaissance"? What caused it?
The Harlem Renaissance was a period of artistic "rebirth" for African Americans in the 1920s-30s. The Great Migration was the mass movement of Black Americans from the South to the more welcoming North where there were more opportunities for them. Many of these migrants settled in Harlem, NY.
