False. You are nearly adults. You must hold yourself accountable by checking with your classmates, Google Classroom and PowerSchool, and by meeting with me in person at your request on your own time.

If I see it, I will take it, regardless of whether or not you were "using" it. There is no reason for you to have your phone out in my classroom, unless I specifically state otherwise.

What is Projects/Tests/Papers?
Scenario: You know you are going to miss class for a school-sponsored activity. What do you do?
Meet with Mr. Wingert before the missed class in order to figure out not only the homework you will be held accountable for, but also the content that was taught/will be taught. Also, ask a classmate to take notes for you.
What should you come to class with every day?
A charged chromebook, a notebook, a writing utensil, and, when not in a novel unit, your free choice book.

What is the ACT?
Scenario: You are absent from class due to a sport or school sponsored activity. You come to class the next day to figure out what you missed. As it turns out, there was a homework assignment. What happens?
You get a zero if it was daily work. You should have asked ahead of time what you would miss, as you are held responsible for it.

I am trying to encourage you to complete the project regardless of the due date because I am only assigning something if I believe it will improve your skills as both an academic and as a human being.
What you can do during free time after I have finished my lecture/all activities.
Work on whatever work has been assigned from my class, read your free-choice book, or, if we have only a few minutes, chat. You may not take out your phone.
Hint: A sequel to this 2004 movie came out last year.
