What is a colon?

What is exposition?

What is characterization?
A statement essentially arguable, but used as a primary point to support or prove an argument
What is a claim?
a report of related events presented to listeners or readers, in words arranged in a logical sequence
What is a narrative?
It connects the main clause (independent clause) to the subordinate clause (dependent clause) by introducing the subordinate clause.
What is a subordinating conjunction?
a Greek term meaning “ladder,” is that particular point in a narrative at which the conflict or tension hits the highest point.
What is climax?
a literary device in which contradictory statements or situations reveal a reality that is different from what appears to be true
What is irony?
through the observation of facts presented in a particular pattern, one ultimately sees different or new interpretations and perspectives

What is parallelism?
a literary element that involves a struggle between two opposing forces, usually a protagonist and an antagonist

is to express an idea or somebody’s message in our own words, by maintaining the meaning of the original material
What is paraphrasing?
a literary device that is designed to inspire emotions from readers
