Explain Sharecropping.
Sharecropper receives land and in exchange, he offers to pay landowner half of the profits. He buys food and supplies on credit from the landowner and then plants and harvests the crop. Sharecropper sells crops, but he has to pay the landowner half of what he owes. This makes it impossible for the sharecropper to make any money- he will always end up in debt to the sharecropper.

What is the Compromise of 1877?
A compromise for the 1877 election. Rutherford B. Hayes and Samuel Tilden ran against each other in the Presidential election. But neither candidate earned the number of electoral votes necessary to win the Presidency. The South agreed to let Hayes be President but:
