CHALLENGE
100
What is a grassland?
A grassland is an open area of land with grass
100
What does the food chain always start with?
What is Sun
100
What is a slow change in an ecosystem?
What is a slow change is that it can take up to years or even decades for the change to happen in the ecosystem
100
What is the balance of nature?
What is The balance of nature is the need to have everything in an environment stay balanced so it does not disrupt the cycle of life.
100
What is a producer?
What is a living thing that makes its own food
200
What is an environment?
What is everything that surrounds a living thing
200
What is a consumer?
What is an animal that eats other living things for energy
200
What is a fast change in an ecosystem?
What is a fast change can change and ecosystem in a matter of hours or overnight
200
What is interdependence?
What is relationship between wildlife and its environment
200
Name two producers in a tropical forest
What is trees, grass, plants, etc
300
What are the two types of an underwater ecosystem?
What is saltwater and freshwater
300
What is a food chain?
What is a food chain is a transfer of energy between organisms
300
Name at least three natural disasters that cause a fast change to a ecosystem?
What is wildfires, tsunamis, hurricanes, etc
300
What is an ecosystem?
What is all living things and non living things in one place that use eachother
300
What is a predator?
What is an animal that eats other living things to survive
400
What are the three types of forest ecosystems?
What is coniferous, decidouos, and tropical
400
What are the two groups that make up a food chain?
What is Living and Non Living
400
Give an example of a slow change in an ecosystem
What is erosion (the pieces of the coast are being carried away by the water)
400
Give an example of the balance of nature
What is the balance of nature would be if the weather for a specific year is better than normal and more plants are able to grow. Because more plants are able to grow, mice and rabbits are well-fed and they produce more young. Because they produce more young, more foxes have more to eat so more foxes survive. All the mice and rabbits eat all of the plants and now there is no longer enough to go around. Many mice and rabbits begin to starve, which leaves less food for the foxes. The foxes weaken and die and now nature returns to normal.
400
How is the balance of nature seen in a food chain?
What isThe balance of nature is seen in a food chain because living things depending on each other as a source of energy balances populations and controls populations in nature.
500
Name two nonliving and two living things in a desert's ecosystem
What is (sunlight, air) (Camels, Humans, Lizards, Snakes)
500
Name the three types of Consumers
What is Herbivores, Carnivores, and Omnivores
500
What is erosion?
What is process by which the surface of the Earth gets worn down.
500
What is an example of interdependence?
What is A woodpecker uses a cactus as his home, but then the woodpecker protects the cactus from insects and by the woodpecker making the cactus his home, other animals showed up to live in the cactus as well.
500
How is interdependence seen in a food chain?
What is Interdependence is seen in a food chain because we see that in order to survive all living things depend on other living things for food and energy.
