What is water is a liquid (it has a definite volume but no defintie shape, it's molecules can take the shape of it's container) but it can freeze into a solid (it's molecules become tightly packed together and have a definite shape and volume) at 0 degrees Celsius. It can then melt back into a liquid at 0 degrees Celsius and evaporate into a gas (now the molecules have enough energy they can take on the shape and volume of any container, such as the air in this room.) at 100 degrees Celsius.

Describe the process of forming sedimentary rock and how it is connected to the formation fo fossil fuels.
What is sedimentary rock is formed when sediments are deposited in layers and compressed over a long period of time. Cementation then occurs and turns sediments into hard rock. Organic material (dead plants and animals) are trapped in between the layers of sedimentary rock where they are exposed to great heat and pressure over millions of years and become coal oil and natural gas.

Explain the difference between a fixed and a movable pulley. Which one reduces the force needed to do work and why?
What is a fixed pulley stays in place, like hanging for a ceiling. A movable pulley is connected to the object to be lifted and moves with the object. The movable pulley reduces force by distributing mass/weight between to strings or ropes.
