As your class is lining up after lunch, one of your students is swinging his lunch sack & accidentally hits another student in the face, leaving a small red mark on their cheek.The student swinging the lunch sack immediately apologizes to the other student, who although startled, is not hurt, & accepts the apology & says he is fine.

- It could be harassment which is a Level 2 infraction - After a Restorative Conversation, both students may sign a RESPECT Agreement (formerly called a Stay-Away Agreement) - Mandatory parent contact to inform both sets of parents about the situation

Two of your students bump into each other on the playground and fall down on the concrete cutting their knees. They need to get the cuts cleaned and have band aids applied
What is a trip to the nurse? (If you don't bring the students yourself, be sure to fill out a Recess Nurse Pass, before you send them to her. She will do the necessary 1st Aid and call parents)

What are Circle Guidelines?

During recess a student who is 2 years older than another student, intentionally pushes the boys and threatens to do it again tomorrow. You find out that this older boy has been doing this a couple of times a week for the past month.
This could be Bullying. Don't use this word carelessly. Students deemed to be bullying need to be investigated 1st and if found to be bullying, get reported to the state. - 4 Markers of Bullying: imbalance of power/intent to harm/threat of further aggression/ repeated and over time

During class, one of your students has to go to the bathroom She knows their is another girl already out in the bathroom. She also knows only one girl may be out of the room at a time, so she waits until the first girl returns to the classroom.
What is a bathroom pass?

While you are teaching, one of your students falls out of her chair. You stop your lesson and remind the student that if she was sitting in the chair correctly she wouldn't have fallen and interrupted the whole class. As you resume your teaching, your assistant sees the student giving you "the finger" behind your back.

Two students get extremely annoyed with each other and get into a pushing match. They meet with the Dean of Students and after hearing both sides of the story, she determines they were both at fault for failing to use their words. What happens next?
What is a Behavior Infraction? One gets sent home with each student? A phone call home will also be made to explain what transpired. Possible suspension if students cannot or don't care to fix the harm that was done.

When low-level incidents of misbehavior or conflict impact student-teacher or student-student relationships, this process is used as an alternative to other behavior interventions or consequences. All parties involved come together to discuss what happened, who was affected & how to make things better

One of your students received a new watch for her birthday and wears it to school. After changing for PE, she leaves the watch in her book bag. After class she can't find her watch but sees another student wearing it at lunch - What Level Infraction? - How do you handle it?
-Stealing/possession of stolen property is a Level 2 Inf. -Mandatory student conference. What happened? "I found the watch in the bathroom so I just put it on" -Mandatory contact with parents to inform of situation -Student 1 Don't bring things like this to school. -Student 2 TAI? Finders keepers doesn't apply in our community
