The USPSTF recommends screening for osteoporosis in women age 65 yo and older as well as in women younger than 65 where the fracture risk is equal to or greater than that of a 65yo white female with no additional risk factors. The FRAX tool is a screening tool one can use to assess fracture risk. Name 6 of the 9 risk factors included in the FRAX screen.
What is: age, ht, wt, hx of previous fracture, glucocorticoid use, risk of secondary osteoporosis (IDDM, prolonged inactivity, early menopause or prolonged amenorrhea, etc), rheumatoid arthritis, alcohol use, smoking.
