How should I dress to Career Fairs?

Usually 10-15 minutes before your scheduled time. This allows you to have some time to compose yourself. Also, be cognizant of your body language and how you carry yourself. Sometimes, the interviewer may ask the receptionist (or equivalent) for their first impression.

CCPD has several resources to aid you in your interview. They offer an online program InterviewStream, where you can record yourself answering questions and evaluate your answers. They also offer one on one mock interviews where they grade responses, dress, first impressions, and body language.

-Avoid using resume templates -Reduce or expand your resume to 1 page in length -Dates on your resume should be aligned on the right hand side -List education before experience and keep all entries in reversed chronological order
How should I format my resume?

-Bring at least 15-20 copies of your resume in a nice folder, portfolio or binder. -Bring a smile and confidence. -Do NOT bring your cell phone. There are areas for employers and candidates to leave their belongings.
What should I bring to a Career Fair?

-Do use a land line to avoid the possibility of a cell phone call being dropped or poor reception. -Do find a quiet, secluded location. Don’t give in to nervous habits that will create amplified noise. -Do ask family members and friends not to disturb you during the interview. Do not interrupt the interviewer. -Do turn off all distractions: radio, TV, other phones, etc. Don’t have a ring back tone. -Do wear something professional. -Do have a professional voicemail message -Do keep the conversation going with prepared questions.

-Research companies before the event. Use the information you learned to show recruiters you are -Locate a diagram of organization setup, usually located outside the venue or printed on handouts. -Plan your strategy. Map out your top companies or districts and visit them first. Then proceed to other recruiters as time permits. -Prepare your sales pitch and deliver it in less than 60 seconds. -Arrive early. Recruiters may leave early because of travel requirements. -Confer with faculty in attendance. Many are there to greet recruiters representing companies with whom they once worked or to whom they have referred other graduates.
