What is the procedure for a measurement?
First- ball is placed by official who has marked forward progress. BJ - Secure and hold ball, be on opposite side of ball from the chains (remember, make sure a view of the ball and the chains can be scene from both sides) LJ - Get a spot even with the ball so that the chains do not have to cross the ball to be straight. HL - Bring chain and chain clip onto field - place clip on back edge of back line where LJ is waiting- alert U when you are ready for him to pull on the post. U - Take post from chain crew member and pull straight when HL is ready. R - Determine if ready, stay out of the lines of site, signal decision. IF SHORT - Leave ball at spot to move in and determine spot inside hashes then move ball.

1. 5 yard penalty from previous spot and re-kick 2. Put ball in play 25 yards beyond previous free kick spot (i.e. the 35 for a kickoff from the 40) 3. Decline the penalty and put the ball in play where it went out of bounds

During a running clock situation, the game clock will NOT stop unless one of the following occurs: T I P S (1) Time-outs (charged to a team) (2) Intermission (between 3rd and 4th quarters) (3) Penalty enforcement (whistle to ready-to-play) (4) Safety reasons (injuries, etc.) and after any score Normal timing procedures will resume if the point differential is reduced to less than 35 points. Additionally, should the point margin increase to a 50 point differential any time in the second half, the clock will run continuously except for officials’ timeouts for injured players.
