What steps should you take when a graduate student has a teaching placement unlike the samples in the SGA Handbook?
1) Review the guidance and the examples in the Handbook and apply your judgment as to what the graduate student should measure. 2) email sga@realyschool.org sharing the teacher's classroom context and your recommendation(s) for what you believe they should measure.

Name 3 reasons why a graduate student may choose to use a summative assessment at the end of the year and explain why this assessment may only have 2 items per standard.
Sample Answers: 1) It's a Regents class and a summative measure is most aligned to instruction and good for kids 2) It ensures the retention of material over time 3) Wonky stuff can happen with school IAs, etc. this allows graduate students another option at the end of the year if need be. We only need 2 items per standard b/c we can't condone things like 150 item assessments for 1st graders.

Please explain how RGSE Goals differ for Year 1 SGA.
They are 50% of the year long goals!

Your graduate student says, "my school already gave me a tracker. I don't wanna use the Relay tracker. Ugh. This is a waste of my time!" Leveraging the "compelling reasons why we ask graduate students to use Relay tracker" examples from Faculty Seminar please role play how you would respond to this graduate student in your session. Liam will be the challenging teacher. :)
To be judged by Kaycee and the opposing team!

what is a potential danger of a teacher wanting to drop four students from her roster at the end of year?
Let's open it up to more discussion....

What are the five steps of the RGSE Pathway to Student Achievement? You must first state each step, then model a kinesthetic gesture for each step
1) Determine Content 2) Solidify Assessment 3) Set Goals 4) Track Progress 5) Verify Outcomes

What is the minimum amount of times a graduate student must assess progress for their Relay coursework each year?
4 times. This is a minimum measure and is the same for RG, WG and SM.

Name the Achievement Floor and Ambitious Goal for RG, WG, and SM.
Let's look at the handbook for exact answers here!

Please share 5 useful tracker tips you learned this week. You can share excel shortcuts, excel formulas, or general tips. Each of the 5 tips has to be something that at least one of you didn't know before this week.
Sample answers: 1) Make sure the data mirrors the format of the Relay tracker before cutting and pasting 2) Copy paste as "values only" 3) Use the "transpose" button when data is horizontally displayed and you need it vertically displayed 4) You can can drag down the corner of a cell to apply a formula in a cell to an entire column 5) There is a simple excel formula (involving =left) that will allow you to remove last names and be left with just the last initial!

Please list the 4 things that graduate students must confirm prior to submitting their end of year trackers.
1) finalize roster 2) confirm data is complete and accurate 3) confirm tracker is functioning properly 4) confirm end-of-year outcomes (progress to AF and AG)

Name one shared data option and a real life example (other than Mr. Joe, Ms. Doe and Ms. Snow) of when it would be appropriate to use this option. Please also share an example of when a graduate student may want to use a shared data option that would NOT be appropriate.
Sample Appropriate #1: A teacher is only responsible for planning and teaching half of the math standards in year (the co-teacher teaches the other 50%). This teacher selects the divided content option. Sample Appropriate #2: I'm an elementary teacher who has a co-teacher. You know what? That's pretty cool. Even though I don't teach each small-group they are all my students and I should be held responsible for all of their educational outcomes. Bam! This teacher selects the shared data option. Sample NOT Appropriate: I only teach the reading mastery portion of our class literacy instruction and I only want to be responsible for fluency growth. My co-teacher is really weak.

What happens if a graduate student reaches the end of year and realizes that she broke from her original assessment plan and that her Pathway isn't aligned? DAILY DOUBLE: Your team can earn double points for this question if someone on your team can list 5 concrete things you would do throughout the year to ensure that this didn't happen.
Wah wah. No graduation points for you. Well, that was before you had this great Assistant Professor who helped you stay out of this debacle!

Please explain how a graduate student who would finalize a standards mastery goal and who the graduate student could go to for help with this decision beyond you.
It all comes down to finalizing your set of standards. Content Professors and School Leaders can be a real help here!

Please name the 3* RGSE Trackers for SY2012 and why we've decided to use these particular trackers this year. DAILY DOUBLE: If there is someone on your team who truly hearts trackers by this point of Faculty Seminar, they will have the opportunity to score your team double points for this question if they walk into the middle of the office, stand on a chair and say, "Yes everyone it's true. I LOVE trackers."
1) Reading Growth 2) Writing Growth 3) Standards Mastery *There is a Year 1 and Year 2 version of the reading growth tracker Whoever did the daily double is my new hero.

If graduate students need help from NYtrackers@relayschool.org, how far in advance should they send in their trackers prior to a module assessment due date.
One week in advance of your assessment due date. We cannot guarantee tracker support on a last-minute basis.

Name the 4 options graduate students have for their selection of standards (as stated in bullet points in the Handbook). Of course, we now know that these are starting points for discussion. :)
1) 100% of state standards 2) 100% of common core standards 3) 100% of school power standards 4) Make or adopt your own set of power standards from the three type of standards listed above

Explain what a graduate student must do if she chooses to remove a student with special needs from her roster.
1) provide compelling rationale for removing that student from your class goal(s). 2) Share what alternative goal you have set for this student outside the content you are measuring for your SGA coursework.
400
What happens to any standards that you indicate that you will assess, but are not assessed by the end of the year?
they are counted as zeros!

Please create a rhyme explaining how many graduation points a teacher can earn for Year 1 student achievement. You may have 3 minutes to plan your rhyme.
This. Is. Great.

What are the four qualifying questions for Step 1: Determine Content? In your own words is just fine!
1) Have you selected the subject(s) that best match the content for which you are primarily responsible? 2) Have you selected the appropriate RGSE tracker(s)? 3) Standards Mastery: have you selected a set of standards with an acceptable amount of coverage? 4) If you are a co-teacher or interventionist, have you selected an appropriate shared data option?
500
"standards mastery is only a meaningful measure of students' achievement if three conditions are met." Please name these three conditions. (think quality of assessments)
1) standards taught and assessed are at an appropriate level of rigor 2) assessments sufficiently cover the standards 3) the assessment consists of high-quality items aligned to standards
